I was asked by Bluebird and agency Raydar to help create a unique range of artworks for a very unconventional range of new Kiwi chips. Paua Fritters and Lemon, Sunday Roast, Cheese and Onion Toasties and Lamington! The designs started with a rough pencil sketch and once signed off I moved on to creating the vector artwork. I thought of classic NZ imagery that could be unique to each flavour. For Paua Fritters and Lemon was beach-inspired with surfboards, waves and the bach. Cheese and Onion Toastie was inspired by the classic Kiwi roadie stopping off to grab a toastie from the local takeaways. Sunday Roast is like going to your parent's house on a Sunday and having a home-cooked meal and for the Lamington flavour I imagined visiting Grandma house and being offered home-baked treats and having a nice cup of tea, thats why theres a ball of wool and knitting needles on the front. Together with Raydar we came up with a distinctive colour palette for each one, so each packet looked different from the others but they still worked as a set.
